Upgrading to a new version of DataFinder Server Edition is a simple and secure process following these three steps:

  1. Start the new version of DataFinder Manager
    • Existing DataFinder(s) of previous versions will be displayed with a red exclamation mark.
    • If your existing DataFinder(s) that you created in a previous version are not visible, from the menu bar navigate to View » Display all Version.

2.     Right-click on the existing DataFinder and choose Duplicate/Upgrade

Figure 2. Right-click the existing DataFinder and select Duplicate/Upgrade...

    • During the duplication process your new DataFinder will also be upgraded to the new version.
    • The duplication process may take a while depending on the amount of data stored in your existing DataFinder index.
    • Export the client configuration of the newly created DataFinder and give it a try with your client applications. To do this, go to the menu bar and select Settings » Export a Client Configuration.
    • National Instruments grants you the right to run more than one DataFinder with the same license for 30 day when updating your DataFinder.

3.      Swap the names of the original and duplicated server.

    • Now existing clients use the new version and can make use of the new features.
    • Keep the original DataFinder around for a while (you have 30 days in total!)
