Overview
In addition to integrating with NI LabVIEW and Multisim software, NI myDAQ can be used with NI ELVISmx software front panels that turn NI myDAQ into eight different measurement and signal generation tools. This document explains how to use the NI ELVISmx Instrument Launcher and reviews each of the instruments that it offers.

The NI ELVISmx Instrument Launcher opens automatically when an NI myDAQ is connected to a system that has NI ELVISmx installed. You also can find the Instrument Launcher in the Windows Start menu at Start»All Programs»National Instruments»NI ELVISmx for NI ELVIS & NI myDAQ»NI ELVISmx Instrument Launcher. From the Instrument Launcher, you can choose from 12 different software instruments based on LabVIEW, eight of which work with NI myDAQ.

NI ELVISmx Instrument Launcher
Install the following NI ELVISmx software instruments with the NI myDAQ software suite. These software programs are built on LabVIEW to provide easy-to-use software instruments to an NI myDAQ user right away.
Digital Multimeter (DMM)

The NI ELVISmx digital multimeter (DMM) controls the basic DMM capabilities of the NI myDAQ. It can perform voltage (DC and AC), current (DC and AC), resistance, diode test, and audible continuity measurements. |

The NI ELVISmx oscilloscope (scope) displays voltage data over time for the analysis of one or two voltage measurements taken from the analog input channels of the NI myDAQ. » Learn more about using the NI ELVISmx oscilloscope with NI myDAQ |

The NI ELVISmx function generator (FGEN) generates standard sine, square, and triangle waveforms. The FGEN uses AO 0 on the NI myDAQ screw-terminal connector. |
Variable Power Supply (VPS)

The NI ELVISmx variable power supply (VPS) allows for an output voltage from 0 to 12 V on the Supply+ source of an NI ELVIS and a voltage from 0 to -12 V on the Supply- source. The VPS also allows for a sweep of voltage outputs between two preset start and stop voltages. The VPS is not supported by NI myDAQ and requires an NI ELVIS system. |
Bode Analyzer (Bode)

The NI ELVISmx Bode analyzer (Bode) produces a Bode plot for signal analysis. Dynamic Signal Analyzer (DSA)

The NI ELVISmx dynamic signal analyzer (DSA) performs a frequency domain transform of an analog input or audio input waveform measurement. This allows for a frequency analysis of a voltage input to the NI myDAQ. |
Arbitrary Waveform Generator (ARB)

The NI ELVISmx arbitrary waveform generator (ARB) generates voltage signals using the analog output capabilities of NI myDAQ. You can create and load a variety of signal types into the ARB using the NI Waveform Editor software. |
Digital Reader (DigIn)

The NI ELVISmx digital reader (DigIn) reads digital data from the digital lines on the NI myDAQ. The digital reader can read either four or eight of the digital lines at a time. |
Digital Writer (DigOut)

The NI ELVISmx digital writer (DigOut) writes digital data to the digital lines on the NI myDAQ. The digital writer can write to either four or eight of the digital lines at a time. |
Impedance Analyzer (Imped)

The NI ELVISmx impedance analyzer (Imped) measures and displays the magnitude and phase of a circuit connected to the impedance analyzer input lines, DUT+ and DUT-, of an NI ELVIS. The analyzer also displays the impedance in resistance and reactance. The Imped is not supported by NI myDAQ and requires an NI ELVIS system. |
2-Wire Current-Voltage Analyzer (2-Wire)

The NI ELVISmx two-wire current-voltage analyzer (2-Wire) creates a two-wire current-versus-voltage curve. The 2-Wire is capable of measuring current-versus-voltage signals within ±10 V and ±40 mA for a circuit connected to the DUT+ and DUT- terminals of an NI ELVIS. The 2-Wire is not supported by NI myDAQ and requires an NI ELVIS system. |
3-Wire Current-Voltage Analyzer (3-Wire)

The NI ELVISmx three-wire current-voltage analyzer (3-Wire) creates a three-wire current-versus-voltage curve for NPN and PNP BJT transistors. The 3-Wire is capable of displaying signals within 0 to 10 V for the collector voltage and ±40 mA for the collector current. The 3-Wire is not supported by NI myDAQ and requires an NI ELVIS system. |
