Advitam develops expertise and systems in the fields of inspection, monitoring, and maintenance management of civil structures. Since 1999, Advitam has integrated structural monitoring systems worldwide for concessionaires, structure owners, managers and researchers.  Advitam has developed many custom structural monitoring applications, working with in-house or industrial technologies, methodologies, involving public and private partners, and integrating up to date real time structural management principles and systems.

Our EverSense® system suite provides a comprehensive set of solutions to record, organize, visualize or analyze instrumentation data  from any structure, in real time or not.  It includes several modules adapted to short term diagnosis of small bridges or to permanent continuous health monitoring of very large, complex structures.  EverSense® also includes specific sensors dedicated to civil engineering risk management, such as acoustic sensors for monitoring of wire breaks in cables, ultrasonic system for tension monitoring in bolts, or electromagnetic sensors for tension monitoring in cables.

Consultation for Design of Bridge Monitoring Systems

COWI has been involved in the design of structural monitoring systems for major bridges over the last 35 years, including almost all major cable born bridges in the world (more than 800 m span). During this period, the COWI group, also containing Flint & Neill (UK), Buckland & Taylor (Canada) and Ben C. Gerwick (USA), has built up extensive experience for designing Structural Monitoring Systems from the conceptual stage over basic and detailed designs, through tendering, tender evaluation to supervision and testing for approval.

Utilizing LabVIEW, PXI, and CompactRIO, COWI has designed and validated some of the largest bridge monitoring systems in the world, such as the Stonecutters Bridge in Hong Kong and the Sutong and Chongming Bridges in China, as well as temporary fatigue and cable vibration monitoring systems for the Øresund Bridge in Sweden and the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark.  For structural testing based on operational modal analysis, COWI has developed a system based on LabVIEW and wireless CompactRIO systems which, by monitoring ambient vibrations, can accurately estimate the eigen frequencies, mode shapes and damping in order to determine if damage has occurred in the structure (bridge deck, gravity dam, high rise building, etc.).
