Researchers at Politecnico di Milano deployed a structural health monitoring system for restoration work on the historic Duomo di Milano. After using NI CompactRIO hardware for the initial phase of monitoring, the researchers transitioned the system to PXI Express hardware to incorporate fiber Bragg grating (FBG) optical sensors for ensuring stable measurements in a challenging environment.
