It just takes a few steps to convert, update or upgrade your NI Volume License Manager (VLM) from one version to another. Use these steps to ensure a successful conversion.

It just takes a few steps to convert your NI Volume License Manager (VLM) from one version to another.  Use these steps to ensure a successful conversion.

1. Back Up Your Original VLM Version (3.X or higher)

  1. Open VLM.
  2. On the main menu, look for the Common Tasks area
  3. Choose Backup/Restore NI VLM.  The wizard will launch.

         

  1. Ensure Back up NI VLM is chosen
  2. Choose Next

         

  1. The storage location will default.  Change as needed.
  2. Choose Back Up

        

  1. Verify the file location is correct
  2. Choose Finish

2. Import Your Settings into the New VLM Version

These procedures assume you already have the new VLM Version downloaded and running.  Be sure to obtain a new license file for the new version of VLM by contacting your VLA representative or e-mail us at agreements@ni.com.

  1. On the Main Menu, look for the Common Tasks area.
  2. Choose Backup/Restore VLM.  The wizard will launch.

         

  1. Ensure Restore NI VLM is chosen.
  2. Choose Next

         

  1. Choose the ellipse (...) to locate your backup file.
  2. Choose Restore

         

  1. The tool will confirm your restoration.
  2. Choose Finish

         

  1. Once done, always be sure to Apply Changes for your updates to take effect.
