With the NI VeriStand Stimulus Profile Editor, you can perform data replay from comma-separated values (CSV) files. Explore the process for importing a CSV file into the Stimulus Profile Editor and replaying data on a running NI VeriStand system.

Formatting and Importing CSV Files

Channels in CSV files are organized by column. The first column of the CSV file must be labeled “timestamp.” It represents the time, in milliseconds, for all of the other channels in a given row. All subsequent columns in the file are individual channels. The first row in each column is the name of the channel, and all of the rows below are the data points for that channel.

You import a CSV file the same way you import a real-time sequence. Drag a real-time sequence call into the stimulus profile from the steps pane. Then import the CSV file by navigating to it in the property browser. Once you have imported the file, you can map channels just as you would with any real-time sequence. By default, the channels are mapped to aliases with the channel name, but you can change this by selecting a new channel. Once you have mapped the channels in the stimulus profile to channels in the NI VeriStand project, you can run the profile and the system channels in accordance with the timestamps and values stored in the CSV file.
