In addition to creating your routes with the Graphical Configuration Utility, you can create channel aliases to rename your switch channels and configure hardwires to connect multiple switch modules. To create a channel alias, click on the row or column that you want to rename. You are then prompted by the Edit Alias and Hardwire popup window to enter an alias. The image above shows this prompt for row r0, which has been given the alias DMM_HI.

Creating hardwires in your configuration helps you keep track of the physical connections in your switch system. Using the Graphical Configuration Utility, you can create hardwires in the Hardwires tab of the Edit Alias and Hardwire popup window. The image above shows Hardwire0 associated with r0 of PXI-2535 and r0 of PXI-2535_2.
