Using and Troubleshooting the GPIB-VXI/C

Multiple Chassis Configurations with the GPIB-VXI/C as the Slot 0 Controller

The GPIB-VXI/C is not designed to support multiple chassis configurations using extenders such as the VXI-MXI-2. The only way to configure a multiple chassis system using the GPIB-VXI/C is to use two or more GPIB-VXI/Cs (1 in each chassis ). They both must be configured as slot 0 controllers but with a different GPIB address. Connect the GPIB cables as if you are connecting to different GPIB instruments.

  1. Change the GPIB primary address (PA) of the second GPIB-VXI/C. Please refer to the section on changing the GPIB primary address of the GPIB-VXI/C.

  2. Configure VISA to recognize the GPIB-VXI/C at the changed GPIB primary address.
