Testing the 5B Series System

  1. First, make sure your data acquisition (DAQ) board works by testing it and troubleshooting it by using the Data Acquisition Installation Wizard.

  2. Next make sure you have everything installed correctly by carefully reading through 5B Series Installation.

  3. Now, open NI-DAQ Configuration Utility, and the following window appears.

  4. Then, double click on the device that is hooked up to the 5B Series you are testing. In this case, there is only one device above and it is wired to 5B Series. The next window appears.

  5. Now, click on Test Resources (this tests the DAQ card). A window should pop up saying "The device has passed the test." If this did not happen, go to the Data Acquisition Installation Wizard, and debug your DAQ board. If you did get this window, click on OK and continue.

  6. Next, in the figure above, there are some tabs. Click on the AI tab, and now your window should look like the figure below. IMPORTANT: Mode may be different.

  7. Change the mode according to what data acquisition device you have in the table below.

    Your DAQ Device Corresponding Mode
    MIO and E Series Boards
    Lab/1200 Series(using SC-2053)
    PC-LPM and DAQCard700
    Non-Referenced Single Ended Mode
    Referenced Single Ended Mode
    Referenced Single Ended Mode

  8. Now, click on the sytem tab again to go back to previous figure and then click on Run Test Panels. The following figure pops up. Notice your chart may be different. In this case, there are no modules plugged into channel 0, so the chart is floating; this is expected.
