DAQ Channel Wizard Help for the 5B Series

  • INPUT modules: With channel Wizard you can configure each channel so that LabVIEW outputs the real temperature of the system in the units you desire, instead of the raw voltage seen at the connector block; likewise for current inputs. This feature rids the user of the need to transform the voltage back into the units of the desired data before graphing the result, because that transformation is done transparently by the Channel Wizard.

  • OUTPUT modules: Similarly, for outputs with signal conditioning, you can give LabVIEW the actual output voltage or current that you want from your output module instead of the voltage that needs to arrive at the module in order to be transfored into the desired output level.

This is a brief tutorial on how to use the DAQ Channel Wizard:

  1. First to bring the channel wizard up under NI-DAQ for windows open the DAQ Channel Wizard. Then the following window pops up.

  2. Now, click on New, and specify which kind of signal you are adding (i.e., Analog In, Analog Out, or Digital I/O) and click OK.

  3. The DAQ Channel Wizard will guide you through the rest of the steps.

  4. After your channel is added, click on the test button in the DAQ Channel Wizard window to see if you configured your channel properly, so it displays your data in degrees Celsius, Hz, or whatever your display units are.

Note: The axis will not be labeled in degrees, Amps, etc., but the scale will be in degrees, Amps, etc.
