Internet Toolkit Troubleshooting Wizard - LabVIEW 7.1 and PreviousTelnet BasicsTelnet is a protocol used to connect to and log onto a remote machine. The remote machine must be running a Telnet Server in order for these VIs to work! When connecting to a remote machine via Telnet, you must invariably supply a username and a password in order to gain access. In most cases there is no access for anonymous users; you must have a valid account on the remote machine in order to connect. Access the Telnet VIs on the LabVIEW block diagram Functions palette by looking under User Libraries >> Internet Toolkit >> Telnet VIs. Telnet sessions are commonly carried on interactively using a terminal-style window and text typed into the command-line. However, the Internet Toolkit telnet VIs enable programmatic telnet sessions, in which commands in the form of strings are sent to the remote machine after a connection has been established. The following image gives an example of how to use the "Telnet Open Connection" and "Telnet Write" VIs to contact a remote system and begin the login process by sending a valid username. The "Telnet Close Connection" VI is ultimately used to close the session down. ![]() The Internet Toolkit ships with a Telnet Client VI that enables a user to establish a remote connection and enter commands interactively to the remote host. To start the Telnet Client VI, choose Project >> Internet Toolkit >> Telnet Line Client from the menu bar of an existing VI, or choose File >> Open, and go to labview\project\internet\telnet.llb\Telnet Line Client.vi. ![]() |
