PCI-7041/6040E Installation/Configuration

1. In order to use the Real-Time capabilities of your PCI-7041/6040E, you must have LabVIEW and the LabVIEW Real-Time Module installed on your PC. The NI-DAQ driver must also be installed to use the 6040E DAQ card.
2. Launch Measurement & Automation Explorer by selecting Start>>Programs>>National Instruments>>Measurement & Automation.
3. Verify that your RT system is detected by expanding Devices and Interfaces tree (click the [+] beside Devices and Interfaces). The 7041 device should appear as "RT::X", where X is the system number.

4. Now expand the RT system listed and right-click on Software and select Install Software. Click on the "X" next to LabVIEW Real-Time and select Install the feature. Do the same for NI-DAQmx and any other drivers required for your application. Click Next after selecting the desired software. The changes that will be made to the system will then be displayed. Verify your selections and click Next to install the software onto the PCI-7041 flash memory.

5. Once your software has installed successfully, click Finish. On the main page of Measurement & Automation Explorer, under the RT system listed, expand the software folder and verify that all selected software was installed.
6. Under the RT system listed, expand Devices and Interfaces and then expand DAQmx Devices. Verify that the 6040E card is listed. Configuration of the 6040E card can be done in Measurement & Automation Explorer (Test Panels, DAQmx Global channels, etc.) in the same way it would be done for a 6040E on the local Windows system. If the 6040E card is not listed, verify you have taken all the steps listed above, then contact National Instruments Technical Support.
