Legacy: Windows 98/95 GPIB Compatibility Release

For GPIB hardware that is not supported by the native 32-bit driver for Windows 98/95, National Instruments offers solutions for the following:

  • AT-GPIB
  • GPIB-1284CT
  • GPIB-232/485CT-A

The solution depends on the particular type of GPIB application. For Win32 GPIB applications, like LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI, you need the Windows 3 GPIB driver along with the Compatibility Release. For Win16 GPIB applications, you need the Windows 3 GPIB driver. For DOS GPIB applications, you need the DOS GPIB driver.

For more detailed information about your particular type of GPIB application, please refer to the following sections:

Information about Win32 and Win16 GPIB applications
For Win32 or Win16 GPIB applications, you need to download the latest Windows 3 software for your GPIB hardware. Below is the list of the GPIB Software for Windows 3 that is in PKZIP format. For Win32 GPIB applications, you will also need to download the Compatibility Release Software, version 1.20, which is in the PKZIP format. These DLLs are the Windows 98/95 replacement thunking DLLs for the ones that are installed by the GPIB Software for Windows 3. Also included with the Compatibility Release are Win32 language interfaces for:

  • Microsoft Visual C/C++ (version 2.0 and higher)
