Prompt Me for Password

If you keep "Prompt me for password" checkbox unchecked, you will be seamlessly logged in each time you visit ni.com. You will not be required to provide us your e-mail address and password. For your protection, even if you leave "Prompt Me for Password" checkbox unchecked, we may ask you to re-enter your e-mail address and password when you access certain secure services like Online Store and try to modify your profile.

Should I check the box or not?

If you are the lone user of your machine and wish to have a seamless experience on ni.com, leave the checkbox unchecked. Even if you are concerned that other people might use your computer to visit the NI Web site, please note that newer operating systems like Windows XP handle multiple user accounts better and, unlike previous operating systems they do not share multiple user cookies. This would not allow other users to view your profile. If you are still concerned about compromising your profile, check "Prompt me for password" checkbox. If you check "Prompt me for password," you will need to log in using your e-mail address and password the first time you access a NI Web page that requires a profile. Be sure to close your Web browser or click "Login/Logout" on the left sidebar when you leave your computer. This will ensure that the NI Web site asks for an e-mail address and password the next time you visit.

What if I change my mind?
You can always log out at any time by clicking "Login/Logout" on the left sidebar of the Profile pages. Once you have logged out, you can log in again and choose whether your browser "remembers" or not.

How does this work?
"Prompt Me for Password" uses a cookie, a small combination of numbers and/or letters that is stored on your hard drive. These numbers/letters are a way for your Web browser to announce itself to our server. When you accept a cookie, we do not learn private information about you or get access to data stored on your computer. Learn more about how ni.com uses cookies.
