Overview

Before you use FlexNet Publisher you should consider NI Volume License Manager (VLM). NI VLM is a free tool built and fully supported by NI to help you manage your licenses.

1. Supported Keywords in FlexNet Publisher

When using FlexNet Publisher, an options file must be created to assign permissions. Options file keywords define a specific operation or object within the options file. Each line in the options file begins with one of these keywords and specifies the action the line is to perform. 

National Instruments supports and has tested the following options file keywords, however functionality is not necessarily limited to the keywords that appear in this table:

BORROW_LOWWATER Sets the number of licenses for a BORROW feature that cannot be borrowed. BORROW_LOWWATER featureName 3
DEBUGLOG Specifies a location for the debug log output from the vendor daemon associated with this options file. DEBUGLOG debug_log_path
EXCLUDE Excludes a user/host or predefined group from the list of who is allowed to use the feature. EXCLUDE featureName USER hank
EXCLUDE_BORROW Excludes a user/host or predefined group from the list of who is allowed to borrow licenses for this BORROW feature. EXCLUDE_BORROW featureName USER fred
EXCLUDEALL Excludes a user/host or predefined group from the list of who is allowed to use all features served by this vendor daemon. EXCLUDEALL HOST chaos
USER_GROUP Defines a group of users for use in INCLUDE, INCLUDEALL, EXCLUDE,
EXCLUDEALL, and RESERVE option lines.

GROUPCASEINSENSITIVE If set to ON, user names and host names specified with the options file GROUP and HOST_GROUP keywords, respectively, are treated as case insensitive. GROUPCASEINSENSITIVE ON
HOST_GROUP Defines a group of hosts for use in INCLUDE, INCLUDEALL, EXCLUDE, EXCLUDEALL, and RESERVE option lines. HOST_GROUP Pacific tokyo seattle auckland
