System Requirements for NI LabVIEW Development Systems and LabVIEW Modules

LabVIEW Development Systems

Refer to the LabVIEW Readme for more information on system requirements.

LabVIEW SignalExpress

• Windows 7/Vista/XP SP3/Server 2003 R2 (32-bit)/Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)
• 1 GB of RAM
• 2 GB of free disk space
• Pentium 4 processor or equivalent

LabVIEW Real-Time Module

• LabVIEW Full or Professional development system (32-bit) for Windows plus the following:
  • 200 MB additional available disk space
  • Real-time target hardware and driver software
• You might need more memory than the recommended minimum for LabVIEW depending on the size of the application you design in LabVIEW on the host computer

LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control Module

• LabVIEW Base, Full, or Professional development system (32-bit) for Windows plus the following:
  • 800 MB additional available disk space
  • 512 MB of RAM. National Instruments recommends 1 GB of  RAM
  • Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 or later

LabVIEW FPGA Module

• Note: The LabVIEW 2012 SP1 FPGA Module does not support Windows 8.
• LabVIEW Full or Professional development system (32-bit) for Windows plus the following:
  • At least 11 GB additional available disk space for a complete installation
  • 1.2 GHz Pentium processor or a compatible processor of equal or higher speed
  • FPGA device
  • Device driver software, such as NI-RIO 4.0 or later
  • Installation of the included Xilinx FPGA Compilation Tools
• Memory requirements vary by FPGA target; although 2 GB of memory is adequate for typical FPGA VIs, the unique characteristics of each FPGA design can affect the amount of memory needed:
  • Virtex-5 and earlier
    • Recommended: 3 to 4 GB of memory (32-bit OS)
  • Virtex-6 and later
    • Recommended: 4 GB or more of memory (64-bit OS)

LabVIEW MathScript RT Module

• LabVIEW Full or Professional development system (32-bit) plus the following:
  • 500 MB additional available disk space

LabVIEW Touch Panel Module

• LabVIEW Base, Full, or Professional development system (32-bit) for Windows plus the following:
  • 250 MB additional available disk space
  • (Windows CE) Touch panel device, such as the NI TPC-2006, running Windows CE 4.2 or 5.0
  • (Windows Embedded Standard) Touch panel device, such as the NI TPC-2512, running Windows Embedded Standard

LabVIEW Control Design and Simulation Module

• LabVIEW Full or Professional development system (32-bit) plus the following:
  • At least 500 MB additional disk space for LabVIEW Control Design and Simulation support
  • (Optional) LabVIEW MathScript RT Module
  • (Optional) LabVIEW SignalExpress – if you plan to install the LabVIEW Control Design Assistant, you first must install LabVIEW SignalExpress

Vision Development Module for LabVIEW

• LabVIEW Base, Full, or Professional development system (32- and 64-bit) for Windows plus the following:
  • Minimum processor: 233 MHz Pentium or equivalent
  • At least 1.4 GB additional disk space for Vision Development Module for LabVIEW

LabVIEW Statechart Module

• LabVIEW Base, Full, or Professional development system (32-bit) for Windows plus the following:
  • 250 MB additional available disk space

LabVIEW NI SoftMotion Module

• LabVIEW Base, Full, or Professional development system (32-bit) for Windows plus the following:
  • 250 MB additional available disk space
  • 2 GB RAM recommended if using NI SoftMotion for SolidWorks
  • (Optional) LabVIEW Real-Time Module required if using a PXI target

LabVIEW Robotics Module

• LabVIEW Full or Professional development system (32-bit) for Windows plus the following:
  • At least 350 MB of disk space
