Embedded Network for National Instruments LabVIEW Embedded Technology

National Instruments LabVIEW software makes creating embedded systems easier by providing one graphical tool to help you design, prototype, and deploy embedded systems and controllers. To make this possible, National Instruments works with a network of partners to provide flexible and open deployment options and ensure seamless integration with other design tools.

Embedded Deployment Platforms for NI LabVIEW
Analog Devices Blackfin

MTS The NI LabVIEW Embedded Module for ADI Blackfin Processors provides a seamless, graphical dataflow development paradigm to directly target Blackfin Processors. The module builds on LabVIEW Embedded technology and includes Blackfin-specific, hand-optimized analysis and signal processing functions; integrated I/O such as audio and video DACs, ADCs, and CODECs; as well as on-chip debugging. The new LabVIEW module reduces time to application by seamlessly integrating with ADI's VisualDSP++ development and debugging environment for real-time, interactive debugging and deployment directly to Blackfin Processors. The NI LabVIEW Embedded Module for ADI Blackfin Processors also provides easy connectivity to the extensive range of NI test and measurement hardware for deploying external stimulation and test methodologies early in the development process.

TenAsys

The TenAsys INtime real-time operating system supports VIs (virtual instruments) on embedded PC hardware using the National Instruments LabVIEW Embedded Development Module. LabVIEW application developers can implement VIs in a real-time Windows environment or stand-alone. The underlying VI control, data acquisition, and processing functions operating in a robust, hard real-time environment can acquire data and close control loops as often as once every 50 microseconds on standard PC hardware.

Embedded Development Tools
iSYSTEM

MTS iSYSTEM provides emulator support for the National Instruments LabVIEW Embedded Development Module. By connecting an emulator to the front panel of LabVIEW, you can use an existing set of graphical objects to analyze behavior of an embedded application on any target hardware. You can then use the in-circuit or on-chip emulator as a development tool for embedded systems design as well as a measurement tool for test applications.

Embedded Prototyping Tools
Xilinx

With the NI LabVIEW FPGA Module, you can create custom measurement and control I/O hardware by targeting a Xilinx FPGA on NI hardware without low-level hardware description languages or hardware board-level design. Use this custom hardware for unique timing and triggering routines, ultrahigh-speed control, and interfacing to digital protocols.

You can port LabVIEW Embedded technology to target processors within Xilinx FPGAs. Use LabVIEW Embedded to target both hard-core processors such as the PowerPC cores in the Virtex-II Pro and soft-core processors such as Xilinx MicroBlaze. View the presentation below to learn how you can use the LabVIEW Embedded Development Module to target the flexible processors within FPGAs.

Test Integration Add-Ons
Linking LabVIEW and Embedded Design Tool Chains for Accelerated Product Development

National Instruments LabVIEW makes testing embedded device code and functionality easier by linking to leading design tools such as Texas Instruments Code Composer Studio, Analog Devices VisualDSP++, iSystem winIDEA, and Wind River emulators and debuggers. The toolkits listed below help you automate the loading and running of embedded code, as well as, allow you to communicate bi-directionally to the embedded processor and display the data on the LabVIEW front panel. These toolkits link industry design and test software to bring embedded code testing much earlier in the design cycle which will significantly decrease your design time.
