Power Quality Monitoring

Power quality monitoring or power quality analysis solutions from National Instruments combine hardware for waveform measurements with flexible software capable of performing any power metering, power quality, or power monitoring analysis. Measurements such as root-mean-square (RMS), power factor, frequency analysis (FFT), and harmonic analysis can be performed over multiple phases and reported via a variety of methods including Web, PDF, database connectivity, e-mail, or cell communication. Use NI LabVIEW software to customize your power quality monitoring solution to fit your specific needs.

Power Monitoring Basics

Measuring and analyzing power begins with high-speed acquisition of the voltage and current waveforms that are being either transmitted by a grid or used by a particular device. NI has vast experience with hardware design for acquiring dynamic signals such as power. Once the waveform data has been acquired, any form of power analysis can be performed using existing or programmed LabVIEW functions.

Power Measurements for Appliance Testing

Testing appliances or other electric devices involves measuring more than just power. With a PC-based approach to instrumentation, a mixed-sensor measurement system for appliance or white good testing is a single, modular device rather than multiple boxes from various manufacturers.

Isolation Technologies for a Safer, More Accurate Measurement

By creating a physical separation in the measurement equipment, isolation increases accuracy, simplifies installation, and, more importantly, adds a safety factor to the system when working around high voltages. All hardware NI recommends for power measurement is designed with isolation.
