Configure NI CompactRIO for DHCP


Currently, you should have your CompactRIO system connected to a network that automatically assigns IP addresses (has a DHCP server).

  1. In Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), select “DHCP or Link Local” and click Save. Click Yes to reboot the controller and have the setting take effect.

    After your CompactRIO system reboots, you should see an automatically assigned IP address, and you are ready to install software on the controller.

    If the IP address is still 0.0.0.0

    1. Ensure that the DIP switches are set to OFF (reboot the controller by pressing the RESET button on the CompactRIO system if you make changes)
    2. Ensure that your CompactRIO system is connected to a network that automatically assigns IP addresses (has a DHCP server.) If there is no DHCP server present, configure your CompactRIO system with a static IP address.
