You CompactRIO system should be connected to a network that automatically assigns IP addresses (has a DHCP server). If you are directly connected to your computer via Ethernet over USB, then a DHCP Only network is automatically established.
- In Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), select DHCP or Link Local and click Save. Click Yes to reboot the controller and have the setting take effect.
After your CompactRIO system reboots, you should see an automatically assigned IP address, and you are ready to install software on the controller.
If the IP address is still 0.0.0.0
- Ensure that the DIP switches are set to OFF (reboot the controller by pressing the RESET button on the CompactRIO system if you make changes). If you don’t have physical DIP switches, you can find the software DIP switches by scrolling to the bottom of the System Settings tab in MAX (below) or by looking on the Controller Settings tab for some models.
- Ensure that your CompactRIO system is connected to a network that automatically assigns IP addresses (has a DHCP server). If there is no DHCP server, configure your CompactRIO system with a static IP address.
