Emailing Reports Created With Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office

This example demonstrates how you can email reports created with the LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office and the LabVIEW Internet Toolkit.

This example uses the Excel Send Workbook VI and the Word Send Document VI to email Excel and Word reports to a given email address.

You cannot automatically email standard or HTML reports. Standard reports are not saved to a file first, so LabVIEW has no way to attach the content to an email. The LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit does not include a VI specific for emailing HTML reports; however, you can manually email an HTML report.

The Excel Send Workbook VI and the Word Send Document VI work only if the default email application on the computer running the VI is Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express. If you use a different email application, the SMTP Send File VI, part of the LabVIEW Internet Toolkit, in this example emails your reports. You can use the SMTP Send File VI with any previously saved files, including HTML reports.

To use the attachment, extract all the files into the same directory. Then open and run the Emailing Reports.vi located in the Emailing Reports.llb. This VI allows you to open one of the three reports from the attachment: report.doc, report.htm, or report.xls. To use this VI to email any report, wire your report path to the New Report VI template input.
