As a business and technology fellow, Rahman Jamal works across the company on key business and technology-driven initiatives. He consults with executive leaders to drive the company’s strategic direction, development, and future growth.
Since joining NI in 1990, Jamal has held leading positions in application engineering and marketing. He has extensive knowledge and experience in all the major markets and industries served by NI, including test and measurement, design and control, industrial and embedded, automotive, and academia. Most recently, he served as NI’s global technology and marketing director, which included leading the marketing organizations in the Americas, APAC, and EMEIA, and acting as an executive stakeholder in the NI marketing organization.
Jamal is a prolific author of articles, books, and user-conference proceedings and a thought leader in many public forums on innovation policy—most recently within the domain of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Industrie 4.0, Time Sensitive Networking (TSN), and other technologies influencing the future of engineering. He also frequently acts as a company spokesperson, communicating the company’s strategy to customers, partners, investors, and employees at NI events such as NIWeek as well as tradeshows and industry conferences.
Jamal earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Paderborn in Germany. He is the chairman of Virtual Instruments in Practice, a premier NI industry and user‐conference event in Europe. In addition, the renowned German publisher Markt & Technik awarded Jamal “Manager of the Year” in the category of Test & Measurement in 2015. Recently, Jamal was appointed a visiting professor for Industrie 4.0 and IIoT at the Sino-German College for Applied Sciences at Tongji University in Shanghai, China.
