Rotary Servo Controls Research Plant—The Quanser Rotary Servo Experiment consists of a DC motor in a solid aluminum frame. This motor drives a small gear that is fixed to a larger middle gear that rotates on the load shaft. The position of the load shaft can be measured using a high-resolution encoder. The Quanser Rotary Servo Experiment also includes an optical encoder and a potentiometer to measure the output shaft position, and a tachometer to measure the speed of the motor. Educators can use this experiment to help students learn the concept of rotary displacement control.
