Description

This software installation provides support for customers using NI RF vector signal analyzers. To program the NI 5661, NI 5663/5663E, or NI 5665, use the NI-RFSA API in all programming languages. To program the NI 5660, use the ni5660 API in LabVIEW and the NI-Tuner and NI-SCOPE APIs in other programming languages. The getting started guide for your device provides information about how to install, configure, test, and begin using an NI RF vector signal analyzer. The NI 5660 has a separate help file from the NI 5661, NI 5663/5663E, and the NI 5665.

Application Development Software

If you are developing applications for the RF vector signal analyzer, you must install at least one of the following application development environments:

  • LabVIEW version 8.6.1, 2009 SP1 (32-bit), 2009 SP1 (64-bit), 2010 SP1 (32-bit), 2010 SP1 (64-bit), 2011 (32-bit), and 2011 (64-bit)
  • LabVIEW Real-Time Module 8.6.1, 2009 SP1, 2010 SP1, or 2011 (not supported with NI 5660)
  • LabWindows™/CVI™ version 8.5.1 or later
  • LabWindows/CVI Real-Time Module 9.0 or later
  • NI-RFSA .NET Class Libraries 1.0
  • If you are running your application on an RT target, 128 MB of memory or more is required.
Note: The NI Spectral Measurements Toolkit must be installed for proper operation of NI RF vector signal analyzers. Install the Spectral Measurements Toolkit after installing NI-RFSA. Refer to the NI RF Vector Signal Analyzer Getting Started Guide for more information about software and hardware installation.

Installation Instructions

Perform the following steps to install NI-RFSA:

  1. Create a temporary folder on your local hard drive and name it NI-RFSA
  2. Download and extract the NIRFSA252.zip file into the folder you created in step 1.
  3. To launch the NI-RFSA installer, open the NI-RFSA folder and double-click the autorun.exe program
or run the command <temporary folder path>\NIRFSA252\autorun.exe.

To conserve disk space you can delete the downloaded .zip file, however it is recommended that you keep the extracted installation files in case you need to add features from the NI-RFSA distribution in the future, or plan to create your own installers using National Instruments development environments.

Note: Installing NI-RFSA on Windows XP systems requires Windows XP Service Pack 2 (32-bit) or later.
