Last Modified: September 27, 2018

Install and configure SystemLink Client to establish a connection between your SystemLink server and an NI Linux Real-Time client with a supported version of LabVIEW.

Before setting up your client, install SystemLink Server and LabVIEW 2017 on your NI Linux Real-Time server.
  1. On your NI Linux Real-Time server, launch NI MAX.
  2. Ensure the firmware for on your target is 4.0 or higher and that the date and time are correct.
  3. In NI MAX, deploy SystemLink Client and any additional software support your application requires to your Linux RT client.
  4. On your SystemLink server, launch and log in to NI SystemLink Web Application.
  5. Click Systems Manager»Discovered Systems.
  6. Select the client and click Add Selected. If your client is on a different subnet than the server, you can also click Add by Address to add a system to Systems Manager. Your target is now a managed system on your server. You can transfer data between your client and server and manage the client in NI SystemLink Web Application under Systems Manager»Managed Systems.

The image below shows an example list of systems connected to a server.

  7. Optional: If you want to prevent actions such as installing software or restarting from executing on your client, select the client in Managed Systems and click More»Lock. These jobs will now be queued and will not execute until the system is unlocked. You can view all jobs, including those that are currently queued, under History.
