Configures the interchangeability checking for NI-DMM to ignore previous configuration operations.

Run this node at the beginning of a test module to determine whether or not the operation of this test module depends on the operation of previous test modules.

Standard Error Behavior

Designing and Testing for Interchangeability

When developing a complex test system that consists of multiple test modules, each test module should be designed to completely configure the state of every instrument it uses. If a test module does not completely configure the state of an instrument, the instrument could contain configuration settings from previous test modules. Depending on which test modules have already run, these configuration settings could change the behavior of the test module, which is an interchangeability problem.

Run this node to test for interchangeability problems. After you run this node, the interchangeability checking algorithms in NI-DMM ignore all previous configuration operations. By running this node at the beginning of a test module, you can determine whether the test module has dependencies on the operation of previously executed test modules.

This node does not clear the list of previously recorded interchangeability warnings. To guarantee that Get Next Interchange Warning only returns interchangeability warnings generated after running this node, you must clear the list of interchangeability warnings using one of the following methods:

  • To see the contents of each warning as you clear the list, repeatedly run Get Next Interchange Warning until no more interchangeability warnings are returned.
  • To clear the list without viewing the contents of each warning, run Clear Interchange Warnings.
