Configure Measurement (Resolution in Digits) (G Dataflow)

Version:
    Last Modified: March 3, 2017

Configures measurement properties, using digits for resolution.

    datatype_icon

    session in

Instrument identifier from previous NI-DMM nodes.

    Default: None

    datatype_icon

    function

Measurement function used to acquire the measurement. NI-DMM sets the Function property to this value.

    datatype_icon

    resolution in digits

Resolution of the measurement in digits.

NI-DMM sets the Digits Resolution property to this value.

    Default: 5.5 digits

    datatype_icon

    range

Range for the measurement, coerced up to the closest input range.

NI-DMM sets the Range property to this value. Refer to your the specifications document for your DMM for a list of valid ranges.

    Setting Auto Range

You can configure your DMM for Auto Range using this parameter with the following values:

    Value Configuration Description
-1.0 Auto Range on NI-DMM performs an Auto Range before acquiring the measurement.
-2.0 Auto Range off NI-DMM sets the Range to the current Auto Range Value and uses this range for all subsequent measurements until the measurement configuration is changed.
-3.0 Auto Range once NI-DMM performs an Auto Range before acquiring the next measurement. The Auto Range Value is stored and used for all subsequent measurements until the measurement configuration is changed.

    Default: 0.02 V

    error in

Error conditions that occur before this node runs.

The node responds to this input according to standard error behavior.

    Standard Error Behavior

Many nodes provide an error in input and an error out output so that the node can respond to and communicate errors that occur while code is running. The value of error in specifies whether an error occurred before the node runs. Most nodes respond to values of error in in a standard, predictable way.

error in does not contain an error error in contains an error
If no error occurred before the node runs, the node begins execution normally.

If no error occurs while the node runs, it returns no error. If an error does occur while the node runs, it returns that error information as error out.

If an error occurred before the node runs, the node does not execute. Instead, it returns the error in value as error out.

    Default: No error

    datatype_icon

    session out

Instrument identifier for subsequent NI-DMM nodes.

    datatype_icon

    error out

    Error information.

The node produces this output according to standard error behavior.

    Hardware Support:

The PXIe-4080, PXIe-4081, and PXIe-4082 always use the resolution in digits you specify. However, the PCI/PXI-4065, PXI-4070, PXI-4071, and PXI-4072 ignore this parameter when the Range property is set to AUTO RANGE ON (-1.0) or AUTO RANGE ONCE (-3.0).

    Note

For capacitance and inductance measurements on the PXIe-4082 and PXI-4072, NI-DMM ignores the specified resolution in digits. To achieve better resolution for such measurements, use the Number of LC Measurements to Average property.

The PCI/PXI-4065, PXIe-4080, PXIe-4081, and PXIe-4082 only support Auto Range when the trigger and sample trigger are set to IMMEDIATE.
