# hilbertmx

Version:

Generates a square Hilbert matrix whose (i, j)-th element is equal to 1/(i+j-1), where i is the row index number and j is the column index number.

## Syntax

c = hilbertmx(n)
c = hilbertmx(n, s)

## n

Size of the Hilbert matrix. n is a positive scalar integer.

## s

Determines the output type.

Name Description
'single' Single output type.
'double' Double output type.

Default: 'double'

## c

Hilbert matrix of size n. c is a real, symmetric matrix.

% Generate a 3-by-3 Hilbert matrix:
C = hilbertmx(3)
% Check the condition number of a large Hilbert matrix:
D = cond(hilbertmx(20))
