Creating a Library from Existing Files

Last Modified: August 7, 2018

Use a Library document (.gcomp) to create a library from existing files.

Before you begin, create a project that contains the files you want to include in your library.
  1. On the Project Files tab, right-click the VI(s) you want to include in your library and select Create Application/Library from item.
  2. In the Create Application or Library dialog box, set Type to Library.
  3. Enter values in Library name and Namespace.
  4. Determine whether to enable the Include dependencies not in an Application or Library checkbox. If you enable the Include dependencies not in an Application or Library checkbox, the Application or Library document you create includes any dependencies your VI(s) require that are not already in an Application or Library document.
  5. Click OK.

The Library document appears in the project and contains the files you selected to include in the library.
