Finds the roots of a polynomial. This node removes leading coefficients of the polynomial that are equal to zero.
polynomial
Polynomial coefficients in ascending order of power. polynomial cannot equal 0.
This input accepts the following data types:
-
1D array of double-precision, floating-point numbers
-
1D array of complex double-precision, floating-point numbers
option
Option this node uses for finding roots.
Name |
Value |
Description |
General |
0 |
Performs the Newton method to find the roots. This method is fast but has low precision. |
Simple Classification |
1 |
Based on the results of the General option, the roots are divided into two kinds:
-
Real—Removes the imaginary part.
-
Complex conjugate—Averages the real parts and imaginary parts respectively.
This option is only available when polynomial is a real polynomial. |
Refinement |
2 |
Based on the results of the Simple Classification option, the roots are refined again by the Newton method for real roots and the Bairstow method for complex conjugate roots. With this option, this node finds roots with greater accuracy, but the computation might be numerically unstable. This option is only available when polynomial is a real polynomial. |
Advanced Refinement |
3 |
Finds the roots with greater accuracy and computational stability, especially when the polynomial has repeated roots. This method is time-consuming because of the computation complexity. |
Default: General
error in
Error conditions that occur before this node runs.
The node responds to this input according to standard error behavior.
Many nodes provide an error in input and an error out output so that the node can respond to and communicate errors that occur while code is running. The value of error in specifies whether an error occurred before the node runs. Most nodes respond to values of error in in a standard, predictable way.
error in does not contain an error |
error in contains an error |
 |
 |
If no error occurred before the node runs, the node begins execution normally. If no error occurs while the node runs, it returns no error. If an error does occur while the node runs, it returns that error information as error out. |
If an error occurred before the node runs, the node does not execute. Instead, it returns the error in value as error out. |
Default: No error
roots
Roots of the polynomial.
When polynomial is a real polynomial, roots are the real and complex conjugate roots. When polynomial is a complex polynomial, roots are the complex roots.
error out
Error information.
The node produces this output according to standard error behavior.
