Disconnecting from a VI Running Interactively on a Real-Time Controller

Last Modified: January 12, 2018

When testing a real-time VI using interactive execution, you can terminate communication between the VI and the host PC while allowing the VI to continue running on the real-time controller and then reconnect to that running VI at a later time.

To complete this task, you need a VI running interactively on a real-time controller.
  1. To disconnect from a VI running interactively on a real-time controller, close the project.
  2. When prompted, select Continue to leave the VI running on the real-time controller.

    Note

Any change you make to a VI on the PC after disconnecting from the real-time system causes the host and real-time VI to get out of sync. If the VI is out of sync, you cannot reconnect to the VI running on the real-time controller.

When you need to modify or view the VI running on the real-time controller, reconnect to the running VI from the PC. To reconnect, open the project that contains the running VI, and verify that SystemDesigner recognizes the real-time system on the Live diagram. If the VI on the PC is in sync with the VI running on the real-time system, you can run the VI to reconnect to the VI running on the real-time controller.
