# MSE (G Dataflow)

Version:

Computes the mean square error (mse) of two sequences.

## y

Array of values.

If the number of elements in y is different from the number of elements in x, the node computes mse based on the sequence that contains the fewest elements and returns a warning.

## x

Array of values.

If the number of elements in x is different from the number of elements in y, the node computes mse based on the sequence that contains the fewest elements and returns a warning.

## error in

Error conditions that occur before this node runs. The node responds to this input according to standard error behavior.

Default: No error

## mse

Mean square error.

If one of the input sequences is an empty array, the value of mse is NaN.

## error out

Error information. The node produces this output according to standard error behavior.

## Algorithm for Computing the MSE

The node calculates mse using the following equation.

$\mathrm{mse}=\frac{1}{n}\underset{i=0}{\overset{n-1}{\sum }}{\left({x}_{i}-{y}_{i}\right)}^{2}$

where

• n is the number of data points
• xi is the ith element of x
• yi is the ith element of y
