# MT Modulate PM (G Dataflow)

Performs phase modulation (PM) on an RF carrier wave according to the baseband information signal specified by the message signal parameter. This node performs signal processing on data and operates independently of your hardware settings. You can use this node in both simulated and hardware-equipped applications.

## message signal

Message signal used to modulate the carrier wave.

## phase deviation

The maximum desired phase deviation, in degrees, of the phase-modulated signal returned in the PM modulated waveform parameter.

Default: 1 degree

## error in

Error conditions that occur before this node runs. The node responds to this input according to standard error behavior.

Default: no error

## PM modulated waveform

The baseband signal data and the complex envelope of the phase-modulated signal.

### t0

The trigger (start) time of the signal data.

### dt

Time interval between data points in the signal data.

### Y

The complex-valued time-domain data array. The real and imaginary parts of this complex data array correspond to the in-phase (I) and quadrature-phase (Q) data, respectively.

## error out

Error information. The node produces this output according to standard error behavior.

## Phase-Modulated Wave Formula

The output phase-modulated wave is described by the equation:

$PM={e}^{i\left(2\pi \frac{phaseDeviation}{360}\left(messageSignal\right)+\left(carrierPhase\right)\right)}$

This node sets carrierPhase in the preceding equation to 0. To adjust the carrier phase, use the initial phase parameter of MT Upconvert Baseband (Real) or MT Upconvert Baseband (Complex).
