When you open an FPGA IP VI, LabVIEW adds and removes certain features from the editor. The following image highlights the key changes to the LabVIEW editor when developing FPGA IP VIs:
- The FPGA Estimates button estimates the FPGA resources required to implement your algorithm.
- FPGA IP development focuses on creating algorithms that translate easily to an FPGA target. Therefore, not every node available in LabVIEW is available in an FPGA IP VI. For example, FPGA IP VIs do not include string nodes or support for floating-point numbers because they would consume too many FPGA resources to be of practical use.
- Deployment warnings display during development in the Errors & Warnings pane to single out code that will not work on hardware.
